One of the most enjoyable and important parts of my job as a Christian Minister is to introduce people to Jesus Christ. Since I first made the decision to give my life to Him and to follow Him, I have found a freedom, contentment, and security that I never knew before. This experience is typical of all that come into contact with Jesus Christ.
Throughout history the lives of people have been dramatically changed by an encounter with the founder of the Christian faith. The earliest Christians in the first century AD would give their very lives to tell the story of the Risen Christ. They suffered martyrdom and torture rather than deny that He was alive. Throughout the succeeding generations many have been willing to give their all and to suffer unspeakable torture to defend their faith in Jesus Christ.
Many sceptics have been radically changed when they have been presented with the unshakeable proofs of the truth of the Christian claims. The late C.S. Lewis, professor at Oxford University in England, was an agnostic who denied for years that Jesus Christ was God. But after studying the overwhelming evidence for this claim he too, accepted Jesus as his God and Saviour. Over the years, he wrote many books to uphold the ideals of Christianity, including Mere Christianity and The Screwtape Letters.
Many other men and women in our century have dedicated their lives
to spreading the Christian message, often giving their lives to serve
the destitute and the outcast, wherever they are.
The reason why the lives of all of these men and women have been so dramatically altered is that they have found that being a Christian brings contentment, fulfilment and joy in their lives and in the lives of those around them. They also found that as they experienced the love of God for them through Jesus, that love overflowed through them to those around. They were transformed when they met Christ and yielded their lives to Him and each of them has made a positive impact on the world.
I know from personal experience, and from the experiences of others I have introduced to Jesus, that His greatest desire is that every single person here on earth should have such an encounter and meet Him personally. The whole purpose of Jesus Christ coming and living among mankind was to provide a way for all to enter into a new and loving relationship with God.
